The Office of Communications is the central source of information for the Catholic Church in Maine. Every day, we work to amplify the life-changing ministries, compassionate service, and faith-filled communities that make the Church a force for good throughout the state.
Our role is more than messaging; it is mission. Through storytelling, digital engagement, and media outreach we help people see—and experience—the Church’s spiritual, moral, and charitable impact on Maine.
We oversee the diocese’s primary media platforms, including the diocesan website, Harvest magazine, and the Maine Catholic Podcast. Through these platforms, we bring forward the people, parishes, and programs that embody the Gospel.
The director of communications serves as the official spokesperson for the Diocese of Portland, responding to media inquiries, offering clarity on Church matters, and ensuring the Church’s message is represented thoughtfully and accurately in public dialogue.
Our team is constantly working to strengthen and improve how the Catholic Church is understood in Maine. By providing clear, compassionate, and truthful communication, we aim to reflect the Church’s real identity—one rooted in service, justice, prayer, and care for the vulnerable.
We collaborate closely with parishes, Maine Catholic Schools, clergy, and diocesan offices to support strategic communications, event planning, bulletins, brochures, and internal communications.
From charitable outreach and social justice initiatives to sacramental life and spiritual formation, our office works to ensure the people of Maine can see the depth, breadth, and beauty of the Church’s presence in their communities.
